CHOGM related events in Gozo had to be cancelled on Thursday because of the bad weather, and the Gozo Business Chamber said in a statement this morning that it is disappointed that after so much preparation, Gozitan businessmen have had yet again to suffer the consequences of the absence of a permanent link between the two islands.
Later on in the same day the ferry service was suspended causing undue distress to all commuters, the Chamber said.
The GBC reiterated its position of the need of a subsea tunnel between Gozo and Malta and said that it "augurs that the Government will accelerate its plans for this much needed infrastructural investment."
Who is going to pay for it? Gozo businessmen? I don’t think so.
A large plexiglass dome or polytunnel might do the trick … or tackling climate chaos.
Seriously; given the challenges endured and overcome by the peoples of Malta and of Gozo, one would have hoped for a little more fortitude on the part of CHOGM …
