The Minister for Gozo Dr Anton Refalo, has presented three new beds to the Arka Foundation, a voluntary organisation that works to assist persons with disability and their families.

The Arka Foundation takes care of the management of Dar Arka where disabled persons live on a permanent basis, as well as for respite care. During the year, the Arka Foundation provides a continuous service to a large number of families.

The Minister said that to manage Dar Arka, the Foundation requires approximately one million euro a year, and that this amount is achieved through services made, as well as from donations received.

Dr Refalo said that the Ministry for Gozo is always ready to help the Arka Foundation in various ways. "This year, the Ministry approved the application for funds, to enable the Foundation to convey its message in the publication of its magazine."

"In the last two years, the Ministry has also funded the purchase of medical materials and other equipment necessary for Dar Arka. On several other occasions, the Ministry has seconded workers at Dar Arka to work on various schemes and even organised voluntary work to be carried our there."

The Minister thanked the Foundation for the great benefit it achieves for the society in Gozo, whilst reiterating that the Ministry for Gozo is always ready to help in any way possible.

The Arka Foundation Anton Refalo thanked the Minister and the Ministry for Gozo for its continuous cooperation.
