The Minister for Gozo, Anton Refalo met with Karl Curmi, who yesterday was awarded Medalja ghal qlubija – the Medal for Bravery, by the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca on the occasion of Republic Day.

Dr Refalo praised Karl for his generous heart and congratulated him on his Award, as Karl is the youngest person ever to have been granted this honour.

10-year old Karl is a student at the Gozo College Victoria Primary School, who in July this year saved a young baby from drowning in the sea at Il-Menqa, Marsalforn.

Karl was accompanied on his visit today, by his family as well as the headmaster of the Victoria Primary School, Lelio Spiteri.
