President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca announced today that the operations of the Gozo Office of the Malta Community Chest Fund, are to be strengthened.

The office was opened last year in order to be able to bring the services offered by the MCCF closer to those Gozitans who need help

The President and Mr Preca were in Gozo today for the last day of events for Istrina Gozo. They had, during last weekend and this weekend, been visiting local communities across the island for the different Istrina events, where they were welcomed by each community who also presented their contributions for the Malta Community Chest Fund.

Sunday's programme started with Mass at Ghasri. Afterwards, together with Mr Preca, the President met with the community there. Following this visit they moved on to the localities of Zebbug, Gharb and San Lawrenz.

The President said today that the real spirit of Christmas has to be shown through mutual love and by showing a willingness to help those in need leading not only to love, but also to peace.

From there they went to the Ta Xhajma race track where the final of the President's Cup was being held for the first time. The winner Salvatore Vella donated the prize money from the race to the Malta Community Chest Fund.

The final part of the programme was a visit to Victoria, where the President with Mr Preca, visited the various squares in the centre.
