The Feast of Generosity is today celebrating its 20th edition. The Feast is organised by RTK4Charity, and it works to primarily raise funds for Dar tal-Providenza, so that it may continue to provide and improve on the services it offers. As many members of the public as possible are being urged to visit the home today.

Fr Martin Micallef, director of Dar tal-Providenza, has highlighted the reasons behind the Feast of Generosity. Its purpose is to meet up with the residents, to see the capital projects, and to raise the much needed funds. However, more importantly, its main aim is to spread the Home's message, which is a call for society to respect persons with disability, to treat them with the dignity that they deserve, and to offer them choices and opportunities that everyone has a right to enjoy.

Sponsored by APS Bank, the Feast of Generosity kicked off at 9am with a Mass celebrated by Archbishop Mgr Charles J. Scicluna within the Home's chapel, during which he called for an inclusive society where people with disabilities would have access to the care they needed.

A spectacle of entertainment and interviews under the big tent follows, with various personalities who visit the Home during the day.

A collection of works of art has been kindly donated by more than 75 Maltese and foreign artists for an auction as part of the feast.

Today, New Year's Day they are now displayed at Dar tal-Providenza. All those wishing to bid for the works may do so online on the Dar Tal-Providenza Auction website. There will also be the possibility for bidding by phone on a number that will be displayed on TV screens during the broadcast on the main local TV stations.

There will also be the launch of a CD compilation, Helu Bambin 2, that includes two original songs. O Bambin Helu was written and taught to the residents by Dun Mikiel Azzopardi himself. They sing it right after Communion during the daily Mass at the Home's chapel. All proceeds will be in aid of Dar tal-Providenza.

For the benefit of those who will not be able to visit the Home, the whole telethon that ends around midnight will be relayed live on all main television stations.
