The start of a New Year brings with it a great demand for blood, therefore putting great pressure on the National Blood Transfusion Service to provide blood to all hospitals.

The Service is encouraging everyone to donate blood, especially in this period after the Christmas holidays when the number of scheduled operations increase.

To this end, next Tuesday, the 19th of January, blood donations can be made at the Outpatients Department of the Gozo General Hospital, between 1pm and 5pm, (last registration at 5pm)

It is important that before you go to donate blood to drink a substantial amount of water, and take your ID card, driving license or Maltese passport. The Service thanks everyone in advance those who intend to donate.
