The year 2016 marks the 100th anniversary of Scouting in Gozo. The two Gozo Scout Groups have prepared a programme of activities to commemorate the event.

With their first activity, the Xaghra Scout Group and the Victoria Scout Group put into practice the Scout's Law and Promise, which emphasises on helping other people, and organised a charity walk in aid of the Community Chest Fund, in conjunction with the Malta Community Chest Fund Office in Gozo.

Members of the two groups, as well as parents and supporters, met at Ta' Pinu square. H.E. the President of Malta Marie Louise Coleiro and her husband Mr Edgar Preca joined the participants and led the way.

GSL Lorrie Saliba thanked the President for her presence and explained that the Scout Law and Promise required the Scouts to think of others before themselves and perform a good deed every day.

In her reply, the President praised the work done by the Scout groups, congratulated those who were members of a scout Group and encouraged others to join in.

The fun walk, which lasted 2 hours, started from Ta' Pinu Square, on to Gharb and San Lawrenz and back to the starting point.

The amount of €1400 was raised. The two groups would like to thank all those who contributed to make this event a success.
