The MEPA Board has decided to invoke Article 77 and commence procedures for planning permission PA740/15 on ODZ Siggiewi case, to be revoked, after the Authority received an investigation report from the Department of Agriculture.

The planning application had sought planning permission for the demolition of a disused farm to be replaced by a residential dwelling in an ODZ area, limits of Siggiewi. Planning permission had been granted by the Environment and Planning Commission on the 4th September 2015 after the applicant had presented an official letter from the Agriculture Department confirming that the said farm was in operation prior to 2000.

Both the Rural Policy and Design Guidance (2014) and the previous Agriculture, Farm Diversification and Stables Policy allow a change of use from a derelict farm to a residential dwelling, subject that there is sufficient evidence to prove that the farm had been derelict for more than 10 years.
