The PN Mayor of Victoria Samuel Azzopardi, has resigned his position as Mayor, and also suspended himself from the Nationalist Party.

In a statement, the PN Party said that the his suspension from the Party had been accepted by the Secretary General Rosette Thake.

The PN said that it appreciated Mr Azzopardi's political correctness and it served as an example to others serving in public life.

It is understood that the resignation is due to possible court action for Mr Azzopardi, which is connected to a traffic accident in Gozo last Sunday.
