The Minister for Education and Employment, Evarist Bartolo, attended the official launch of two children's board games in Maltese, created by Suzanne Piscopo and Michael Piscopo. These board games, Sriep u Slielem u Min Jasal l-Ewwel, were sponsored by the National Literacy Agency and the Ministry for Education and Employment.

The games form part of the resource pack, Nieklu bil-Ghaqal ma' Fonzu (Healthy Eating with Fonzu), explore various themes including food and physical activity, and promote a healthy lifestyle. The game Sriep u Slielem is primarily aimed for Year Two students (aged 6-7), and the game Min Jasal l-Ewwel, is intended for Year Five students (aged 9-10).

During the launch, the pupils at Floriana Primary School, within St Gorg Preca College had the opportunity to play these games in the presence of Reading Ambassador Stellina Galea who animated a reading session for Year 6 students.

Dr Suzanne Piscopo delivered a presentation on how these games may be utilised in the classroom and the main themes they promote. The Kindergarten and Year Four students animated this event by singing the songs Fonzu l-Fenek and Benna l-Baqra.

The Minster closed this celebration by handing out the Fonzu l-Fenek resource packs to College Principals and Heads of Primary Schools of St Gorg Preca College who were present at the launch.

The Fonzu l-Fenek resource packs will be distributed to all Primary schools across Gozo and Malta by the National Literacy Agency.
