The Minister for Gozo, Anton Refalo, has visited two local companies, Meric Interiors and Pauliana Said Accountancy and Tax Consultants.
During the visit to the Gozitan companies, the Minister for Gozo said that according to the latest NSO statistics on employment, between 2013 and October 2015 the number of Gozitans in full-time employment increased by 769, and part-time increased by 399.
He also said that the number of Gozitans registering for work in March 2016 fell to 560 from 742 at the end of the last administration, an improvement of approximately 25%.
Dr Refalo pointed out that the statistics show that in recent years one in four people who were registering for work have now found jobs.
He urged for more innovative entrepreneurial initiatives and reiterated that in Gozo there is plenty of space and opportunities to encourage companies to invest and even expand their operations.
Meric Interiors specialises in interior design. Eric Mercieca, interior designer, said that he became a designer at a time when there was hardly any requests for this type of service in Gozo, however the business managed to grow, so that today he is now an entrepreneur and agent for a large Italian company, Orsolini
Pauliana Said Accountancy and Tax Consultants has been operating in Gozo since 2011. Currently the company employs two professional workers specialising in services related to accounting.
Minister Refalo commented that these types of companies are ideal for Gozo. He mentioned how they are in line with the Government's economic mission to attract new investment to Gozo.
He encouraged these companies to continue to expand and stressed that the Government is committed to offering its support to investments of this type.
