Zminijietna – Voice of the Left have welcomed the decision taken by the Government to oppose the EU proposal for a renewal of licenses for the use of glyphosate, "a controversial herbicide with potential links to cancer."

"This shows that, the local campaign organised by the "Clean Food Movement" against the use of herbicides in urban areas by contractors engaged by local councils was fruitful," it said.

Zminijietna urged all local councils to adhere to the Government's position and halt the use of such herbicides.
