Over 50 Institute of Tourism Students have benefited from European funds that the Institute received under the Erasmus+ programme. These funds have helped students with the travel and everyday expenses incurred as they were completing the international internship, which is part of their course at ITS.

The Institute of Tourism Studies applied for and received EU funds under the Erasmus+ Key Action 1 -Mobility project for VET learners and staff from the EU Commission, via the European Union Programmes Agency (EUPA) to help a number of students who went abroad on their mandatory ITS International Internship in 2014-2015.

The students were given the opportunity to complete their internship in various EU countries, among them: Belgium, Cyprus, United Kingdom, Italy, Ireland and France.

Thanks to this EU Programme over 50 ITS students could finalise their studies at ITS by gaining practical hands-on experience with some of the largest and most renowned operators in the international tourism sector.

An Internship is a three-way partnership among – ITS, the Hosting Organisation and the Student. It is a supervised, mentored work experience with specific learning objectives and quality training. The Institute and the participants themselves considered this mobility a fantastic experience and a great opportunity at the doorstep of their career in their chosen field within the tourism industry.

During the internship, students learn a lot and improve not only their skills, but indeed also their confidence in their area of study. Furthermore, their training gives them ample exposure that also helps them with future employment prospects.
