Industrial production up 1.0% in April, but down 3.1% on last year

Seasonally adjusted industrial production increased by 1.0 per cent in April over the previous month. When compared to April 2015, the index of industrial production adjusted for working days went down by 3.1 per cent, the National Statistics Offie said today.
In April, the seasonally adjusted index of industrial production increased by 1.0 per cent. Increases were registered in the production of consumer goods (13.0 per cent) and energy (1.4 per cent). On the other hand, the production of intermediate goods and capital goods went down by 4.3 and 1.8 per cent respectively.
When compared to the corresponding month of 2015, the index of industrial production adjusted for working days went down by 3.1 per cent. This was mainly due to a decrease of 18.1 per cent in the production of intermediate goods. On the other hand, increases were registered in the production of consumer goods (5.3 per cent), energy (3.1 per cent) and capital goods (2.7 per cent).
