Readers letter – "Roads were created for thoroughfare between a town with another. Streets are somewhat different. Streets are paved roads lined with houses and other buildings. It used to be the paving and the buildings that made a street a street.
In Victoria Gozo, our thoroughfare serve both as roads and as streets. Maybe we can baptise them as Streetroad, This makes them doubly important to allow traffic to flow without any chairs or platforms to block them for hours and hours.
Maybe the lower Opera House down the road blocked such flow for Pop shows but traffic at least had ample way to flow. The other Opera House can, and should never block that part of Racecourse street because locals, Maltese and tourists had to go through Ghasri, Xaghra and God knows where just to go to Marsalforn.
I myself did not see the blockage but I suffered the traffic jam and paid the price for petrol (air condition too)."

At one point an ambulance was trying to pass the traffic to return to hospital with a patient. It took ages to overtake the cars near Oratory all the way to Bishop seminary, now matter the full blown siren. Who gave the permits for Republic Street to be closed for more than 2 days when Foreman Street was closed also? What a shame!
We on the East side of the Island are regularly cut off. I tried to drive to Mgarr a couple of days ago and got caught in the traffic jam from Hell. I think the President was visiting. Failed, almost ran out of petrol and the people I was picking up had to catch a bus and walk. How many people missed their ferry and flights?
