This coming Sunday a new and exciting event will be taking place in San Lawrenz – Swejjaq f' San Lawrenz, Performance Art, organised by the Local Council

The San Lawrenz Local Council said that the idea of `Swejjaq' is a new idea for the island … Swejjaq is the Maltese word meaning a small market, the intention is to transform the main village square into a small Sunday morning market.

This will be a market which sell crops, traditional Maltese food and other artisan hand made products. There will be something for all the family, with folk dancing and music. There will also be organised tours around the church, a vintage car show and activities for children.

Schola Cantorum Jubilate will be participating in Swejjaq. The recital will be held at 11.30am and will include various secular pieces by De Prez, Elgar, Chappell, Silvey, Rutter and Diemer.

Ta' Seguna Folk band will also be participating on Sunday. This folk band will be entertaining those present with live music using traditional musical instruments.

Swejjaq f' San Lawrenz, Performance Art – is taking place on Sunday, the 12th of June, between 8.00am and 1.00pm, it is hoped that this will be the first of many to come in the future.

This will be a wonderful opportunity for the whole family and the Council is encouraging everyone to go along and enjoy something different!
