Flimkien ghal-Ambjent Ahjar has said today that it is taking a pro-active stance in taking the first step towards reclaiming the country for its children, for health and its heritage, by proposing seven sites, including two in Gozo, to be protected.

Following the unanimous cross-party approval of Act No XXV of 2015 (more widely known as the Public Domain Act), FAA said that it has filed seven applications requesting that seven sites in Gozo and Malta be designated as being in the Public Domain, to be preserved in their natural state.

The environmental NGO said that these are sites and trees, which are of natural, ecological and historical importance for the Maltese, are: in Gozo – Hondoq ir- Rummien and Ta' Cenc, and in Malta – Manoel Island, Kalanka in Delimara and Wied Garnaw at Santa Lucia, fir trees at Ta' Xbiex and beaches an bays stretching from Sliema to St Julian's.

FAA also urged the public to forward their own proposals to the Government for sites they feel should be preserved for the future.
