Alternattiva Demokratika has expressed its disappointment at the two latest decisions by the Planning Authority regarding high rise development in Town Square and Mriehel. AD claimed that it is concerned by the various negative impacts which will affect nearby residents not only after they are constructed, but also during the towers' construction process.AD spokesperson Marc' Andrea Cassar stated that,"both developments will lead to an increase in pollution, through an increase in vehicular traffic. Sliema, Birkirkara, Mriehel and Santa Venera residents already experience high levels of congestion due to traffic. These developments will only make an already bad situation even worse."

He further stated that, "Such decisions need to take into consideration the consequences on all residents, including those who are not located in the immediate vicinity of the project."
