The Civil Society Network, in a statement has called on the Environment and Resources Authority (ERA) "to fulfil its duties as the state's environmental custodian and to appeal against the PA decisions to approve high-rise development in Townsquare, Sliema and Mriehel."

"The PA decisions were taken despite violations in policy, shortcomings in impact assessments and lack of a masterplan on high-rise development," it said.

Civil Society Network said that it is closely watching ERA's actions and expects it to put the environment before other considerations.

"We are also calling for publication of all correspondence between ERA, its Chairman Victor Axiak and the PA board related to the respective decisions on high-rise development in Mriehel and Sliema."
