Another night of Giochi – it's a knockout was held in Xahgra on Tuesday. The first in a series of events for the festa of Marija Bambina kicked off with the Giochi games, and the newly renovated village square was turned in a spectacular arena with games, singers and fun.There was a good crowd of people who turned out to support their teams, others enjoyed the events and entertainment from their dining tables in the restaurants surrounding the square.

The atmosphere was full of good natured fun with 4 teams fighting for every point in a very sportive manner.The participating teams were composed from different entities of Xaghra with youths, footballers, scout members and seniors taking part in the games.

It was a great evening and the organisers gave thanks to the Xaghra local council especially the Mayor Mr Joe Cordina for making it all possible.

The winning team in this event was called Black Eagles with 26 pts, followed by the Legends 22 pts, Nazzarenu 21 pts and Boys United 14 pts.A new set of games were introduced for this 3rd edition of Giochi – it's a knockout, and the teams were neck and neck till the very end as indicated by the results.

The winning team was presented with a trophy by the Mayor, together with medals to all participants.

Black Eagles will now go on to represent Xaghra in the Finals at Marsalforn on the 11th of September.

The next events are to held in Ghajnsielem, on the 19th of August, followed by Xewkija on the 27th of August and the final in Marsalforn on Sunday, the 11th of September. Which team will be the winner for this year's Giochi?
