Zminijietna – Voice of the Left has expressed its solidarity with Air Malta cabin crew workers who, it said, "are facing difficult moments due to Government's neoliberal strategy to part-privatise Air Malta."
Zminijietna said, "it is highly condemnable the tactic adopted by the airline to issue a call to recruit `trained' cabin crew, to act as strike breakers. The other unions representing other workers in Air Malta should not shy away from showing their opposition against such decision, which violates the spirit of trade unionism."
Zminijietna concluded by saying that "the Government should find alternative solutions rather than selling off part of the airline to a private entity. The strategy adopted by the previous administration to fully privatise Malta International Airport and to open the national airline to other low cost airlines should also be revised."
