A 48-year-old German woman died this morning after she found herself in difficulty while diving at Ras ir-Reqqa, on the outskirts of Marsalforn, Gozo.

Police said the incident happened at about 11.00am. The woman was taken to Gozo General Hospital by ambulance but certified dead on arrival.

The Armed Forces of Malta and Civil Protection Department were on site to assist.

Magisterial Inquiry has been appointed into the case whilst Police investigations are still underway.
