The Gozo Motocross Association organised its second round of the championship 2016/17 at Ta' Xhajma Track. Twenty riders participated in Sunday's event, watched by numerous fans who came to support their favourite riders.
The GMA said that the competition proved to be both unpredictable and changeable, which was wrapped up in a dramatic atmosphere of emotion, noise, expectation and excitement.
Riders of Class A dominated the day as the return of twice reigned Champion 2014/15 and 2015/16 Etienne Bigeni, returned to the scene with his Kawasaki KX 125cc. However, best rider 2015/16 Mario Cauchi, David Dimech, Steve Xuereb, Paul Muscat, Robert Spiteri, and Adam Sultana fought hard to place in the first three posts in all of the three heats. Xuereb won this category on his Honda CRF 250cc followed closely by KTM 450cc driven by Maltese rider Muscat. Cauchi came in third place.
Class B was just as challenging with Nataniel Camilleri and Keith Bugeja on Yamaha YZ 250cc and Yamaha YZF 250cc respectively, both striving hard for first place. Camilleri ended up first while Bugeja followed by 9 points less. Jorn Stellini followed in third place.
In Class C, Joseph Luke Gauci returned once again in a bid to win over Anthony Fenech and Daniel Camilleri who challenged each other for second place. Gauci won maximum points for the day, followed by Fenech on a Honda CRF 150cc and Camilleri with a Yamaha YZ 125cc.
