In light of International Transgender Day of Visibility, Gay-Straight Alliance MCAST (G- SAM) has said that having gender-neutral bathrooms within all institutes is essential.
"We believe that everyone has a right to feel comfortable and safe whilst using the bathroom facilities found at MCAST, including trans and gender non-conforming individuals who are subject to constant discrimination."
G-SAM said therefore, relabelling at least 1 stall in every institute allows it to be accessible to individuals of all genders is essential to decrease said discrimination and, subsequently, increase the acceptance of trans and gender non-conforming individuals.
It added that it believes that "the comfort and safety of all students is a goal that is commonly shared between students themselves as well as MCAST."
"Gender neutral bathrooms will be just a small step towards educating the general society of a diverse community," an aim that G-SAM said it is advocating for in the events organised.
This is political correctness gone totally MAD. I don’t want to go to the toilet and be imposed upon by gender benders and least of all sit in a cubicle with a women in the next one. Gents and Ladies toilets have been there for hundreds of years. If that concept is not broken, then don’t fix it. This is all totally perverse.

This happens already when you go to a bar and they only have one toilet, everyone has to use it regardless of gender so what is the difference? I don’t imagine that where a large number of toilets are provided that urinals will be part of the set up as that would not be practical or pleasant for people to share. If urinals are required then of course they should be segregated into a male only area for obvious reasons. I have visited public places in other countries where the facilities are unisex and have no issue with them, as long as they are kept clean and people treat both them and their users with respect there shouldn’t be a problem.
