Zed, the Esplora Robot travelled on the ferry to Gozo yesterday for an outreach event held at the Ghajnsielem Learning Hub, which was attended by Parliamentary Secretary for The Rights of Persons with Disability and Active Ageing.Dr Justyne Caruana and the Executive Chairman of the Malta Council for Science and Technology Dr Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando.

Esplora is Malta’s National Interactive Science Centre and is now open to all. This was the first activity of its kind in Gozo in connection with persons with disability and the elderly.

The star of the day for everyone there was of course Zed. For those attending, the Esplora experience was made complete with some science busking from the Facilitator Team.
Children from various schools as well as day centres for people with disabilities of all ages and abilities experienced the Science Outreach Programme organised by Esplora Gozo.

During this session the students had an opportunity to discover more about Esplora National Interactive Science Centre and what has to offer in terms Science and Technology. It is a hands-on experience designed to to make science appealing and relevant to all and aims to enthuse everyone about science.
Parliamentary Secretary Justyne Caruana said that the Esplora project is a very important and unique project in our country. “By joining this project we are making sure that disabled people are participating in the fullest way. We wanted to show through this activity how even in sectors such as science and technology they may be fully inclusive without prejudice and without obstacles.”

Dr Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando, said that “this is a good opportunity where we have a chance with the outreach event in Gozo to encourage more families to visit Esplora Gozo, the home of science in our country.”
