Update: A 59-year-old man, from Gharb died this morning in a tragic accident at a construction site in Triq Tumas Cassar, Gharb, Gozo.

Police said that the incident happened at about 10,00am. According to their preliminary investigations, the man was working at a reservoir, together with his 28-year-old son, when for an unknown reason the clay caved in on them.

The man’s son, was taken to the Gozo General Hospital for medical care, whilst the 59-year-old was certified dead on the spot

The Civil Protection Department were also on site to assist the victims.

Police have said that the 28-year-old man has been certified as suffering from slight injuries.

A Magisterial Inquiry has been appointed into the case whilst Police investigations are still underway.
