Five Gozitan sports associations have benefited from the Ministry for Gozo sports scheme and will share €20,750 to carrying out their projects this year.

This year is the fourth Ministry for Gozo sports scheme, for which nine applications were received, and following an assessment made by the appointed board, six of these organisation met the criteria set for consideration to be given funds for their projects.

One of the associations decided to carry out its project next year, so at a ceremony organised by the Ministry, grant agreements were awarded to five organisations by Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri.

They are:

Ghajnsielem Redcoats, awarded the sum of €5,000 for the project ‘Sizzling Fastpitch International Tournament;

The Scout Association of Xaghra, awarded the sum of €5,000 for the project Water Canoing through Crystal Clear Water;

Gozo Cycling Club, awarded the sum of €3,950 for the Project Gozo Cycling National Race Festival 2020;

Athelitx AC, awarded €1,800 for the project Triangular League Gozo Leg 2020;

SK Victoria Wanderers, who received the sum of € 5,000 for the project Next Level Football.

Minister Clint Camilleri said that, “sport is an important link in the quality of life. We want every child in our country to have the opportunity to practice the sport they want. We must nurture and strengthen a sporting culture from an early age.”

“He concluded by saying that the main objective of the Ministry is to further promote sport and attract more participation in sports for a more healthy life.
