Speaking to the Party faithful at a political activity this morning, PN Leader Simon Busuttil said that he had been asked before the event what the position of the Nationalist Party on hunting. Busuttil said that “he mentioned that the Labour Party is saying that if a Nationalist government is elected it will stop hunting.”

The PN Leader said that “it’s all because the Nationalist Party is proposing that people can submit a request for a propositive referendum, this the PL say, would mean a new referendum on hunting.”

“A referendum on hunting has already been held and the people chose its position, and the PN will honour that decision,” said Busuttil.

He said that the Nationalist Party negotiated a package with the European Union before it became a member of the EU in order to protect hunting.

Simon Busuttil said that it is “not the first time he has been criticised by hunters, but when it came to the spring hunting referendum, he kept his word and honoured what was said twelve years before by voting with them.”

The PN Leader appealed to hunters “to prevent Joseph Muscat using them just for their vote so that they can remain at the Castille, and then dumping them afterwards.”
