1.80% decrease in April's industrial producer price index - NSOThere was a decrease of 1.80 percent in the industrial producer price index in April when compared to the same month last year, the National Statistics Office said today.

This was mainly due, the NSO said, to a drop of 3.56 per cent in intermediate goods and 0.94 per cent in consumer goods.

On the other hand, there was a rise of 1.03 per cent registered in capital goods. No price changes occurred in the energy sector.

There was an increase of 0.83 per cent in industrial producer prices for the domestic market. Price increases were recorded within intermediate goods (1.82 per cent), consumer goods (0.83 per cent) and capital goods (0.43 per cent).

The NSO also noted that there was a fall in non-domestic prices by 3.62 per cent due to decreases of 3.85 per cent within the non-euro area and 3.19 per cent within the euro area.

It said that the producer price index for total industry increased by 0.05 per cent over the previous month. This was due to a price rise in intermediate goods (0.15 per cent) but mitigated by a drop of prices within consumer goods (0.05 per cent). No changes were registered in the energy and capital goods sectors.

A decrease was registered in domestic market prices of 0.02 per cent, due to a drop of 0.06 per cent within consumer goods.

However, prices for the non-domestic market increased by 0.10 per cent. This was due to a rise of 0.13 per cent in the non-euro area and 0.05 per cent within the euro area.
