The Blood Transfusion Service has put out an urgent call for blood, required for cancer patients, patients with kidney disease, operations and the seriously injured – the number of which is increasing every day.

The Service said that it is making it very difficult to meet all the demand for blood and above all to maintain adequate in reserve.

Blood can be donated at the Outpatients Department of the Gozo General Hospital this coming Sunday, the 27th of August from 8.00am to 1.00pm. Please also encourage others to donate if possible.

It is important that before you go to donate blood to drink a substantial amount of water, and take your ID card, driving license or Maltese passport. The Service thanks in advance everyone who intends to donate.
