Ascendor, the Gozitan Heavy Metal band, have just released their first ever music video for the single ‘Metalhead,’ off their upcoming record ‘Disturb the Dust.’

The band explained that ‘Metalhead’ pays homage to the ever-strong, undying spirit of the brotherhood composed by the relative minority who enjoy heavy music; a faction of people who are often misunderstood and misinterpreted simply for being clad in black.

Filming and editing of the video was “expertly undertaken” by fellow Gozitan filmmaker Bryan Testa of TestaFilms, with the assistance of Sean Attard,” the band said.

Ascendor are set to release their third studio album by the end of the year. Following an absence of nearly two years from the music scene due to recurring personal problems, which, the band said, “had not only delayed, but also epitomised the release of our previous record – Drive my Demons Away.”

The Gozitan metallers are back with a 12-track album, tackling the subjects of injustice, abuse and other adverse experiences while preaching and encouraging the strength and hope to get through them.

They said that the album also features a re-recording of one of the fan-favourite tracks previously released in 2013 on their debut album ‘Becoming.’

The Gozitan quintet will also be making their long-awaited return to the stage at the upcoming edition of Shellshock Metal Festival which will be held at Chateau Buskett on the 17th of February 2018.

The album was recorded by Ascendor themselves, while mixing and mastering duties were trusted to Steve Lombardo.

It will be made available for sale during its official launch in Spring 2018, where the band will be hitting the stage together with fellow metallers Fallen Icon.

Ascendor said that it is the only metal band currently active in Gozo. The five-piece was formed in July 2011 by drummer Paul Formosa after jamming with guitarists Andy Fava and Joe Costa, from which all three perceived the apparent chemistry present both in the style of playing as well as in the writing of original material.

After establishing a solid foundation, the band completed their line up with Steve Muscat on vocals and Blasio Muscat on bass.

Ascendor have participated in numerous local gigs and festivals while also making it to the final of the 2013 Hard Rock Rising Battle of the Bands.
