As part of the national celebrations for Republic Day, the Ministry for Gozo said that it has prepared a programme of activities related to this national event.
It includes a classical concert in the main hall of the Ministry for Gozo, under the distinguished patronage of President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca and with the participation of Gozitan singers and musicians, performing a repertoire based on the works of Nicolo Isouard.
The Ministry for Gozo, as previously advised, had an exhibition today of Mattia Preti’s ‘Daniel Interpreting Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream,’ in its first public viewing on the islands.
This seventeenth century painting was acquired by the Ministry for Gozo earlier this year to form part of the Gozo Museum project, which the Ministry said, is being undertaken through European funds.
The Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana. in her speech said that, 43 years ago, Gozo, through its deputies, approved the republican constitution and so today Gozo is making its contribution on a national scale. “This is not least in the cultural field and it was therefore felt that this work of art, which was acquired through public funds, should now be enjoyed by the public.”.
The President of Malta congratulated Minister Caruana on this initiative taken today, which she said is so significant for our country, showcasing this work of art to the general public – free of charge.
