Via Dolorosa: Ghad-Dell tal-Qorriegha, is an Oratorio for Easter organised by the Santa Cecilja Foundation.

It focuses on a very particular moment of the passion of our Lord – His encounter with His mother The Fourth sorrow, when Mary meets Jesus carrying His Cross on the way to Calvary.

The lyrics were put to music by Antoine Mercieca, musical director and founder of the Santa Cecilja Foundation.

Mario Borg, the author, doesn’t just describe their meeting but, more importantly, explores its true significance, even comparing the Sorrow with life in the present day.

This musical composition will see the participation of the Santa Cecilja Choir, soloists, Ruth Portelli, Rosabelle Pavia, Marthese Borg, Angelo Muscat, George Mercieca, and live orchestra – leader James Zammit, under the baton of Maestro Antoine Mercieca.

The concert will be under the patronage of the Minister for Gozo Dr Justyne Caruana, and is being held in the main hall of the Ministry for Gozo, St Francis Square, Victoria, on Sunday, the 18th of March, at 6.30pm.

Everyone is welcome and admission is free of charge.
