Kaccaturi San Ubertu (KSU), in a statement has said that the resignation of the Wild Birds Regulation Unit WBRU head Mr. Sergei Golovkin, “is a loss for the Government, ornithologists, hunters and others alike.”
According to KSU, “under his tenure Malta has seen improvements and innovative procedures in the hunting and trapping sector that dwarf those in other EU Member States.”
It added that, “his commitments on behalf of the WBRU in the Council of Europe, the United Nations’ convention networks, on enforcement against illegal killings of birds and his role as the ORNIS Committee secretary, apart from being exemplary and professional, saw an element of impartiality and commitment that is to be commended.”
The KSU continued by saying that, the criticism and the welcoming of this resignation by the abolitionists are “completely unfounded.”
“No one can reconcile Mr Golovkin’s achievements to the vile and subjective statements made by CABS and the like, which statements simply reflect the non tolerance for anything or anyone who professes a balanced opinion,” concluded Kaccaturi San Ubertu.
