A celebration weekend of art and craft stars this evening in Gozo, inspired by the theme of MAIA/MAY named after the Roman goddess; celebrating life, spring, mother earth and renewal.

This special event is happening at the ARTBOX Gallery, garden and courtyards of B & B Dar ta’ Zeppi in Qala.

They will be open to the public, and showcasing work from a group of local and international artists and craft makers.

The organisers said that there will be lots of ideas on how you can decorate your home and dining table on a spring theme.

A wide range of affordable, original artwork and gifts will be for sale, all hand-crafted on Gozo, including contemporary art, painting and sculpture; photography; ceramics; metalwork; jewellery; painted boxes; art cards; mandalas; ganutell work; home-made natural products; herbal teas; jams; home baking (some lactose/gluten-free).

This weekend event is the perfect opportunity to meet some of the artists and makers and to buy some special gifts in time for Mother’s Day, a tasty treat for tea, or a special item for yourself and your home.

The ARTBOX resident artists taking part are: Tanja Van Poucke, Hermine Sammut, Barbara Attard Pettett, Jackie Roberts, Peter Muscat and Jorg Bottcher and they are joined by guest artists, makers and bakers: Ed Roberts, Florence Lamine, Connie Gauchi Borg, Marina Tenerelli, Yana India, Josette & Terry Buttigieg, and Amanda/Baba Bubbles.

Dar ta’ Zeppi is located in the centre of Qala – Number 39, 28th April Street – on the main street between the school and the church square, near a bus stop and there’s plenty of street parking.

Opening hours are: 4th May 6-8pm; 5th May 10am-6pm and 6th May 10am-1pm.
