The Government in a statement, has said that it has noted the reaction of the public and teachers regarding the Fruit Distribution scheme, with vegetables and milk in schools.

During the past days the introduction of the scheme has caused a number of complaints from parents and eNGOs to be raised due to the amount of unnecessary waste through single-use plastic with items such as straws.

The Government said that in view of this, the Ministry for the Environment, together the Ministry of Education, have started the process to evaluate how the scheme can be improved through a more holistic approach.
