We have been asked to relay another urgent call for blood donations to our readers. Blood reserves in Malta are at an all-time low, especially O-Positive, and the postponement of planned operations is again possible. The blood bank is said to be literally devoid of blood.
The National Blood Transfusion Centre has also said that there may not be enough blood to meet any emergencies which may arise. Readers who can donate blood are kindly asked to be generous, your help is direly needed and it can save lives.
If you cannot donate personally, please circulate this appeal by email and any other means. One or more of your contacts may be able to give a donation, which could save a life.
Those in good health are being urged to donate blood at the National Blood Transfusion Centre, located near St Luke’s Hospital in Guardamangia, as soon as possible.
The centre is open daily, including Sundays and public holidays, between 8.00am and 6.00pm and donors need to produce their ID cards.
