“Opposition Leader Adrian Delia’s victory in Court today is a victory for the people of Malta and Gozo. Our hospitals have been taken away and given to shady companies with secret owners,” stated PN MEPs David Casa, Roberta Metsola and Francis Zammit Dimech.

The PN MEPs made the remarks in a joint statement after the Court of Appeal, presided by the Chief Justice, rejected the arguments of the Prime Minister and the Attorney General in the case instituted by the Leader of the Opposition Adrian Delia wherein he is demanding the rescission of the $2 billion Vitals Global Healthcare contract.

“From the European Parliament we will continue to work to support Adrian Delia in his mission to safeguard the interests of the people,” they added.

The PN MEPs argued that “the decision of the Court today confirms that it is the Nationalist Party that is defending citizens from the consequences of corruption brought about by this labour Government.”

PN MEPs said that the decision is “further confirmation that the autonomy and integrity of Malta’s institutions must be restored in the interest of the Maltese and Gozitan people.”

They went on to say that, “today’s judgement showed how important this week’s resolution in the European Parliament was and why it must be implemented without delay.”

The MEPs underlined how the European Parliament, through a resolution voted yesterday,” has paved the way forward for the Maltese Government, and outlined a number of changes which the Maltese Government should implement as soon as possible.”

They concluded by saying that “this is crucial in order to restore trust in the Maltese institutions and our reputation that this Government has damaged so badly. Now it is time for Government to start making things right.”
