Police have said that a man was seriously injured during a collision between two boats in the Comino – Mgarr channel at about 10.15pm on Thursday night.

The injured man is the driver of one of the boats, a 27-year-old Macedonian from Zebbug, Gozo. He had collided with another boat driven by a 48-year-old man from Naxxar.

The man was taken to the Gozo General Hospital, where he was later certified as suffering from serious injuries. The two people in the other boat were not injured.

A Magisterial Inquiry has been appointed into the incident whilst police investigations are still underway.
