The higher temperatures during the summer normally means fewer people donating blood. However the hot weather also brings with it an increase in the number of accidents, including those related to the sea, so the need for blood is ever present, the National Blood Transfusion Service has said.

With this in mind, the Service will be organising a number of donation sessions during July, with the opening session next Tuesday.

The public on Gozo are therefore being invited to help meet the constant demand for blood by making a donation on one of the dates shown below.

Donations can be made at the District Health Centre in Xewkija, located in Triq tall- Hamrija, between the Primary School and the Bocci Club.

Sundays – last registration 1:00pm

7th July from 8: 00am to 1:00pm

21st July from 8: 00am to 1:00pm

Tuesdays – last registration 5:00pm

2nd July from 1:00pm-5:00pm

16th July from 1:00pm-5:00pm

30th July from 1:00pm-5:00pm.

The Service reminds everyone that it is important to always take your Identity Card, Driving License or Maltese Passport and to drink plenty of water beforehand.
