An 87-year old man was seriously injured earlier today, when he was hit with a firearm during an argument with another man in Xewkija, Gozo.

Police said that they were notified of the the incident, which took place in in Triq Tas-Salib, at around 10.20am

The elderly man had at the time of the incident been involved in an argument with a 35-year-old man, also from Xewkija.

The 87-year old was taken to Gozo General Hospital for further treatment, where it was later certified that his injuries were serious.

Magistrate Paul Coppini has been appointed to the case and Police investigations are ongoing.
