“The Ministry for Gozo strongly supports the concept of active ageing and wants to see it strengthened in Gozo,” so stated the Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana during the opening of the new academic year of the University of the Third Age.

The University of the Third Age Gozo, is on the University Campus, Xewkija, where sessions will be held from October to June 2020.

Everyone who attends the lectures will have the choice of a large selection of themes and topics, ranging from information on medical aspects, literature, history and geographical information.

Dr Caruana mentioned that the concept of the University of the Third Age can be further expanded and strengthened by introducing new services and classes, and this, with the full collaboration of the University, she said.

“Through these meetings, our seniors are not only provided with useful academic information, but they are also being active and socialising with new people, as well as being able to share various experiences, enabling them to participate fully in society,” continued the Minister for Gozo.

The Minister Caruana closed by reiterating the commitment of the Ministry for Gozo to offer the best opportunities for the elderly now that they have reached this stage in their lives. She reminded everyone present that October is the month dedicated to the elderly, for which the Ministry has prepared various activities.
