Gozo Japan Friendship weekend of culture fusions at the Citadel

This weekend, a unique event of culture fusions is taking place at the Citadel with the first edition of the – Gozo Japan Friendship event, with the full collaboration of the Ministry for Gozo.
Organiser of the festival, Ms Akiko Miyahara, explained that the aim of this special event is to make the public more familiar with Japanese culture.
She said that among the main attractions will be a variety of typical and traditional Japanese food and drink, information on the traditional clothing of Japan – the kimono, and old rituals, such as the Tea Ceremony.
Thousands of lanterns light up Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, in southern Japan every autumn for the Jinko-shiki Festival, representing – the light of the ancient capital.
This year the tradition will also be seen in Gozo, when lanterns will illuminate the ancient Gozo Citadel.
During this Gozo-Japan Friendship event, there will be several culture activities, workshops, typical and traditional food to taste, as well as Japanese sake and whisky to try.
