This morning, 8-year old Gozitan Liam Daly completed his swim between Comino and Hondoq Bay in Gozo, where he was welcomed by Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana, students and staff from the Happy School in Victoria, Qala Mayor Paul Buttigieg and plenty of supporters.
Liam made the swim to raise awareness about the harm plastic is causing to our seas, with the theme – Keep The Sea Plastic Free. He was accompanied on his swim by two partners and two boats from the ERRC.
Young Liam is an active and determined Shamrock Star athlete, and a Year 5 student at Gozo College Primary School in Victoria, Gozo – the Happy School.
Dr Caruana presented him with mementos and congratulated Liam on his wonderful achievement, saying, “Gozo is proud of you.”
The Happy School students also did a clean-up of Hondoq beach.
