Tomorrow evening, the very first edition of Kantamaghna – A Singers’ Festival, is taking place at the Astra Theatre in Victoria, Gozo.

Presented by the DCapitals Big Band, they explained that the main aim of this festival is to give exposure to young talent in Gozo and Malta and give them the opportunity perform accompanied by a live 18-piece big band.

24 Finalists who went through the auditions which were divided in three categories:

Category A: singers aged 9 (Born 2010) – 12 (Born 2007)

Category B: singers aged 13 (Born 2006) – 16 (Born 2003)

Category C: singers aged 17 (Born 2002) – 25 (Born 1994)

The Band said that all winners, and runner-ups of the three categories will be awarded trophies.

The overall winner will be given a one year contract with DCapitals Big Band, and the singer will have the opportunity to keep on working with the band and participate in the numerous events locally and even abroad during the upcoming year.

The show starts at 7.30pm, at the Astra Theatre, tomorrow, Saturday, the 23rd of November. Entrance is free of charge.

      I understand that the voice tends to give way as one grows up but I think that I can still perform even when I have 63 years! Just a thought. Maybe there could be a class for us.
