There were an estimated 191,698 inbound tourists during November, the National Statistics Office has said today. This is an increase of 8.3% when compared to the previous year.

158,425 inbound tourist trips were undertaken for holiday purposes, while a further 24,362 were made for business.

The NSO noted that the number of inbound tourists from Non-EU Member States went up by 14.2% on November 2018.

When compared to last year, total nights spent went up by 9.0%, surpassing 1.2 million nights. The NSO said that the largest share of guest nights (56.1%) was spent in collective accommodation establishments.

Tourist expenditure during November was estimated at €136.2 million, an increase of 10.3% over last year.

The number of inbound tourist trips for the first eleven months surpassed the 2.6 million mark, this was an increase of 5.3% over the same period in 2018.

Total nights spent by inbound tourists went up by 3.6%, surpassing 18.3 million nights, the NSO said.

From January to November, the total tourism expenditure was estimated at €2.1 billion, 4.9% higher than that recorded in 2018. Per capita, this figure stood at €814, a decrease of 0.4% when compared to 2018.
