GO was among the winners of the prestigious Occupational Health and Safety Good Practice Awards organised annually by the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA). This is in fact the fourth time that GO has scored success in earning the OHSA’s recognition for its ongoing occupational health and safety initiatives at the workplace.

The award was given on grounds of techniques that companies used to assess risks and to eliminate or reduce risks during a project that involved work at heights. The project entailed extensive planning and consultation with other entities and workers’ safety representatives.

“We are truly satisfied with GO’s achievement particularly so as it underpins our ongoing strategies aimed at planning, co-ordinating and implementing high standards of occupational health and safety measures in all the areas of our business,” said Michelle Bonnici, Chief Human Resources Officer at GO.

“Health and Safety management is top priority at GO and we make it a point to ensure that measurable objectives are set up and achieved, hazards identified, risks assessed and standards of performance implemented – measures that contribute to the development of a positive safety culture across the company.”

“Every year GO adopts new initiatives to further reduce health and safety risks for its workers. Such initiatives are even more effective in view of the huge commitment on the part of GO employees at large who are trained to be highly aware that safety is everyone’s responsibility,” she added.

During the presentation ceremony held at the OHSA Headquarters in Guardamangia, Joseph Ebejer, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry for Social Policy congratulated the winning companies and said that the Awards aim to demonstrate the benefits of following good safety and health practices and will provide the winning companies with national recognition for their role in improving working conditions in Malta. Dr Mark Gauci, OHSA Chief Executive Officer and Roberta Messina, Chairperson of OHSA attended the presentation.
