The Gozo Live Play writing competition, which is now in its sixth year, has opened for all playwrights and aspiring playwrights.

The organisers said that it is looking for short plays with a maximum length of around thirty minutes, although shorter is fine. The competition is open to everyone.

Plays received will, if suitable, be staged as rehearsed readings in late 2020, or early in the new year. “This is an opportunity to see your play on the stage,” Gozo Live said.

In July last year, Faraxa Publishers published the book – Raise the Curtain – which contained the plays received between 2013 and 2017.

Gozo Live said that last year’s competition was poorly supported, with only one entry being received. “We are running the competition again this year in the hope of getting a better response.”

“If however we do not, we will sadly have to assume there is no further interest and will discontinue the event,” said the organisers, “so please do enter.”

Closing date is the 31st of July 2020, but entries can be emailed to gozolive2018@gmail.com at any time. Full rules are also available from the same address.
