A Minimum Cash Withdrawal Amount of €500 is being introduced from Bank of Valletta branches from Monday.
The Bank said that this is to help contain the spread of Covid-19. Customers visiting any BOV Branch to withdraw cash from the Bank’s cashiers can now only withdraw cash from €500 upwards.
Customers are urged to use the Bank’s ATMs all over Malta and Gozo where they can withdraw up to €500 at any time of the day.
The Bank explained that it sanitises its ATMs on a regular basis, however customers are encouraged to protect themselves and others by taking their own sanitising precautions before and after usage of ATMs; keep at least one metre apart if they are waiting in the queue and to respect others by refraining from throwing away used gloves and tissues in the ATM receipt bins.
Customers who do not have a bank card and have less than €500 in their account will still be able to go to a branch to withdraw funds. Such customers are urged to apply for their free BOV Cashlink Card.
The Bank said that it is striving to reduce non-essential contact to prevent the virus spread and safeguard the well-being of its employees and customers and this measure is being introduced to reduce the need for customers to visit the Bank’s branches, thus limiting unnecessary contact and waiting in queues.
Bank of Valletta also urged the general public to reduce cash usage and instead use electronic channels such as paying with contactless cards and BOV Pay and to carry out banking transactions through BOV Internet Banking, BOV Mobile Banking and Customer Service Centre.
BOV also appealed to its customers to go to its branches only for urgent services that cannot be obtained through electronic channels.
