I have just written an article for a British newspaper urging visitors to Malta to come to Gozo for the archaeology, the history and days at the beach in Hondoq and Ramla.
I wrote assuring my readers of this Travel section “swimming is safe and glorious at Hondoq with stunning views of Comino just across the water.”
My article has already gone to print. How awkward to have to write a correction saying that heavy weather has caused considerable damage, tossed boulders in the way and that swimming and diving are no longer safe.
Please, please can the appropriate authorities remove the boulders and repair all the damage to Hondoq expeditiously.
Let everyone, Gozitans, Maltese and visitors continue to bask in its wonderful Mediterranean waters.

Francesca I hope you know how things go around here in Gozo.This should have been fixed straight away .From what I heard there are big rocks in the water where swimmers dive .
Can I ask why it is taking so long to fix these problems .
I hope there is no hidden agenda behind all this to scare people away
Unfortunately, as yet, nothing has been done to make the bay safe again. Local politicians and developers have their beady eyes on Hondoq Bay as they would like to build a huge marina complex there, so perhaps they are stalling for this reason. I sincerely hope not, and can only recommend that you wait another few weeks before advising your readers that Hondoq, and indirectly Gozo, has unfortunately become a no-go zone.
I will hold thumbs that my fears are unfounded and that your readers will be able to visit the islands in the near future and enjoy the lovely bay of Hondoq.
